EnergoBit improves its security and communication possibilities while increasing IT productivity

“The Exchange Server solution has greatly improved safe communication inside and outside the company. People rely on systems provided by us, trust instruments and devices they use, while the IT & C department manages more easily all that integrated system”

Raul Gadola - IT Director&C, EnergoBit

EnergoBit is a group of companies which activates in the electrical field with headquarters in Cluj-Napoca and offices in Bucharest, Brasov, Bacau and Constanta, with over 400 employees and over 100 million euros turnover.

EnergoBit wanted to improve internal & external communication and information security as well as implementing a modern messaging infrastructure, that will allow access to corporate resources and greater agility for mobile workers, such as technical consultants or sales force. Also, the tracking and centralized management of hardware and software resources were important requirements of the project, taking into account the need to fulfill the conditions for quality and information security audits.

The 400 employees depend on access to technology to accomplish tasks when they are at the headquarters, regional office or remote.

Based on the identified problems, BRINEL specialists involved in the project decided to radically improve the internal security system and to provide a performance solution for communication and messaging. Thus, the new infrastructure has been built on the Microsoft ® Windows Server - Active Directory services - and Microsoft ® Exchange Server.

Today, the company uses effective communication and collaboration resources of the Exchange server, including remote access to email, Microsoft ® Office Outlook Web Access, or the use of smart phone devices. Since Forefront TMG 2010 was implemented, mobile workers, who use a laptop connected to the Internet when they're away, they can safely access their email correspondence with Microsoft ® Office Outlook.

The Exchange Server solution has greatly improved safe communication inside and outside the company. People rely on systems provided by us, trust instruments and devices they use, while the IT&C adepartment manages more easily all that integrated system.

Raul Gadola IT&C Manager, EnergoBit

We can now concentrate on projects that bring more business value, instead of spending so much time on administrative activities. What we have now is a solid basis to move forward. I have not yet implemented some features, such as portal and collaboration, but we plan to bring to a close as soon as possible with these projects too.

Raul Gadola IT&C Manager, EnergoBit

Benefits-after implementation:

• Increasing security and meeting the standards for certification and audit;

• Increase employee productivity, including the mobile ones;

• Substantial reduction of time dedicated to IT support services.

Once they receive the solution, the IT team expects a significant increase in productivity, approx. 50% for administrativ and maintenance activities and user intervention requirements, even in case of unexpected situations.
